ATU Local 107 and its committee members are taking a stand to end bullying for the International Day of Pink.
Members of ATU Local 107’s Political Organizing and Public Service (POPS) Committee have organized their first public relation event to celebrate diversity and help put an end to all forms of bullying on April 9.
The committee was joined by Local 107 President, Budh Dhillon and Vice President, Eric Tuck as the campaign started in the morning with the distribution of signature Pink Balloons and Pink Gerber Daisies to over 1000 transit customers at the MacNab Transit Terminal in Hamilton, ON.
Prince Philip Elementary School and its students also participated in the Day of Pink. Eric Tuck set out to the school to oversee the start of ATU 107’s sponsored International Day of Pink Festivities – where Pink Anti-Bullying T-shirts were distributed and worn by over 200 staff and students within school grounds. A motivational speaker, Anthony McLean started the day by getting the kids involved while trying to get the message he wanted to send across followed by a Pizza Party Lunch.
The day ended with the Pops committee joining the staff and students at the school gym for a grand finale concert by Hamilton’s very own Turkey Rhubarb Band.
The day has been proven to be a huge access by all event participants and is something ATU Local 107 and its member are extremely proud of.
On behalf of all our executives and POPS committee members, we would like to thank all who participated and made the event possible on such an important cause.
